Beyond a basic page extractor

Split PDFs into meaningful, named sections

Most PDF splitters create generic part numbers. Named ranges let you define outputs such as Invoice: 1-2, Contract: 3-9 and Appendix: 10-. Each line becomes a correctly named PDF inside the ZIP, reducing the renaming work after a large document is divided.

Named range recipesCreate multiple custom sections and filenames in one operation.
Odd and even separationRepair scanning workflows that captured opposite page sides separately.
Extract or removeKeep a chosen set or remove confidential and irrelevant pages.
Predictable ZIP outputMultiple PDFs arrive together with clean, sequence-safe names.

Private PDF splitting in your browser

The PDF and ZIP libraries run in your current browser tab. Rantey does not receive the document, output files or section names. Pages are copied without converting them into images, so visible text and graphics retain their source quality. Password protection, signatures, bookmarks and some document-level interactive features may not carry into newly created files.

Common questions

Split PDF FAQ

How do I split a PDF into separate files?+

Add one PDF, choose a split mode, review the output plan and select Split PDF. Multiple results download together in one ZIP file.

Can I split a PDF by custom page ranges?+

Yes. Add one named range per line, such as Invoice: 1-2 and Appendix: 8-12. Each line becomes a separately named PDF.

Can I extract only odd or even PDF pages?+

Yes. Create an odd-pages PDF, an even-pages PDF, or both files together. This is useful for duplex scans.

Can I split every PDF page into a separate file?+

Yes. Choose Every page to create one PDF per source page and receive them in a ZIP archive.

Can I remove pages instead of extracting them?+

Yes. Remove pages mode excludes the range you enter and saves every remaining page as one clean PDF.

Are my PDF files uploaded?+

No. The source PDF, generated files and ZIP archive are processed locally inside your browser.

Does splitting reduce PDF quality?+

No raster conversion is used. Existing pages are copied into new PDF containers, preserving visible page quality.

Are password-protected PDFs supported?+

No. Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked with software you trust before they can be processed.
