Understand the settings
Resize by pixels or percentage
Pixel mode is useful when a website, document or upload form requires specific dimensions. Percentage mode is faster when several images need the same relative reduction. For example, 50% changes a 2000 × 1200 image to 1000 × 600.
Practical image dimensions for the web
| Use | Suggested width | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Large hero image | 1600–1920 px | Useful for wide desktop layouts |
| Article image | 1000–1400 px | Balances detail and transfer size |
| Product thumbnail | 400–800 px | Suitable for cards and listing grids |
| Email image | 600–1200 px | Easier to load on mobile connections |
These are general starting points. Use the dimensions required by the website, app or document where the image will appear.
Resize images privately in your browser
The resizer uses browser image and Canvas capabilities. Files are processed sequentially on your device and are not sent to Rantey. The exported file is freshly encoded, so review it before replacing an important original.
